Konarka CEO Howard Berke Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2006 Award Finalist in New England

Berke to Participate in 20th Annual Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Reception at Harvard Club of Boston on May 4, 2006

Lowell, Mass. – May 4, 2006 – Konarka Technologies, Inc., an innovator in developing and commercializing Power Plastic™ that converts light to energy, today announced that CEO Howard Berke is a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2006 Award in the New England region. According to Ernst & Young, the awards program is designed to recognize outstanding entrepreneurs on a regional, national and global level who are building and leading dynamic and growing businesses. Berke was selected as a finalist from nearly 90 nominations by a panel of independent judges. Finalists will be honored at the Harvard Club of Boston on May 4th, and award winners will be announced at a special 20th anniversary gala event on June 15, 2006 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.

Howard Berke has nearly 30 years of hands-on management experience launching, building and leading both public and private technology companies. He advises start-up companies and entrepreneurs in a wide range of fields including medical devices, biotech informatics, software, networking, telecom and energy technology. Berke serves as Konarka's delegate to the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneers. He sits on the board of directors for the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), and has guest lectured on entrepreneurship at Yale, Harvard, MIT and elsewhere throughout the world. Berke received his MBA from the University of Chicago and his BA from Yale University.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Awards are given to entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2006 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 18, 2006. The overall national Entrepreneur Of The Year award recipient is then considered for the world event held in Monte Carlo.
