To many, the PV (photovoltaics) industry seems to turn on one metric: dollars per watt. But solar isn't just a power source, it's a product. Moderated by Scott Sklar of The Stella Group, this session will look at innovators throughout the PV value chain that have leveraged a unique capability, new sales channel, or value-added feature to make their offerings more than just a commodity. In addition to Daniel McGahn's presentation, other presentations on this panel include Moneer Azzam of Solar One presenting, "SOLED (TM) Area Lighting - LED Lighting Systems Efficient Enough to 'see by'" and Peter Corsell of GridPoint presenting, "Intelligent Energy Management: Beyond Balance of System." Also presenting is Henry Genteraar of Reluminati, "Pop Culture PV: Branding Solar for New Consumer Markets" and Tom Nicholson of Seahorse Power presenting, "How Solar Trash Compaction is Squashing Litter."

Prior to Konarka, Daniel McGahn served as COO and general manager at Hyperion Catalysis, the world leader in carbon nanotube manufacturing and application development, where he managed the company's domestic and international operations in 16 countries, directed product development and led the build-out of Hyperion's manufacturing facilities. Prior to Hyperion, McGahn served as the director of business development and operations for IGEN International. McGahn holds a B.S. in Ocean Engineering and a Master of Engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
